Cappadocia: A Journey Between Sky and Earth

Day 1

• Departure from Bucharest, Otopeni Airport, Turkish Airlines flight with a layover in Istanbul (boarding time to be announced later)
• Arrival at Nevşehir Airport in Cappadocia, transfer to Barceló Cappadocia Hotel (included)
• Participation in a Sufi dance session performed by a troupe of dervishes
• Dinner and overnight at Barceló Cappadocia.

Day 2

• From 05:00 to 07:00 (approx.) – optional (weather permitting) – Morning in the Sky – we will collectively admire the sunrise from a hot air balloon, flying above the Cappadocia plateau
• Breakfast at the hotel
• Cappadocia North Tour : Göreme Open Air Museum, Avanos & Red River, Lunch break, Devrent Valley, Zelve, Pasabaglari, Uchisar Rock Castle, wine tasting in Ürgüp

Day 2

• We will be picked up from the hotel at 09:30 to begin the tour in the most fascinating museum of Cappadocia, UNESCO-listed for its testimony to the early centuries of Christian life and art: Göreme Open Air Museum. Here we will discover how Christianity emerged as a mass social phenomenon, what symbols and visual representations the early Christians in Anatolia used, and the invisible connections between these naive rock-cut pictures and later Byzantine cult painting.
• We will continue to Avanos, the pottery center of Cappadocia, and after a lunch break we will explore Devrent Valley, known as the "Valley of Imagination," where nature has created true representations of life on Earth from rock formations. The next stop is Pasabaglari, known as Monk’s Valley because the first forms of Christian monasticism originated here.
• We will end the day with a spectacular panoramic view from Esentepe and Uchisar Castle, a view over the Göreme valley and the village of Göreme, formed by fairy chimneys, rock formations, and cave houses. Uchisar Castle ends the day as a gift to the sky: this tall rock, the highest point in the Göreme region, is shaped like a beehive with 25 stories, forming an underground city that reaches toward the sky. It was used as a citadel during Roman, Byzantine, and Seljuk periods.
• Wine tasting in Ürgüp and transfer to the hotel, then the evening ends with dinner at the hotel and leisure time

Day 3

• From 05:00 to 07:00 (approx.) – optional (weather permitting) – Morning in the Sky – we will collectively admire the sunrise from a hot air balloon, flying over the Cappadocia plateau
• Breakfast at the hotel
• South Cappadocia Tour : Red & Rose Valley, Cavusin Cave & Pigeon Valley, Kaymakli / Derinkuyu UNDERGROUND CITY, lunch in Soğanlı Valley, Mustafapaşa (the former Greek town SINASOS), return to ORTAHİSAR
• We will be picked up from the hotel around 09:30 and begin with a hike along the Red Valley and Rose Valley, the most beautiful and mysterious valleys of the region. The valleys, with their fabulous volcanic formations, are in the heart of Cappadocia, but far from the usual tourist attractions.
• Our hike will continue to the rock-cut village of Cavusin, where we will discover a rock castle and underground dwellings where people lived until the 20th century, followed by a visit to the Pigeon Valley.
• We continue with a journey to the center of the Earth in the underground city of Kaymakli or Derinkuyu, one of the largest and deepest of its kind in Cappadocia. This city reaches a depth of about 40 meters and contains all the usual rooms of an underground city (stables, cellars, storage rooms, refectories, churches, cellars, etc.).
• Transfer to the hotel and dinner.

Day 4

• From 05:00 to 07:00 (approx.) – optional (weather permitting) – Morning in the Sky – we will collectively admire the sunrise from a hot air balloon, flying above the Cappadocia plateau
• Breakfast at the hotel
• Free time, visit to a jewelry store
• Transfer to Nevşehir airport, boarding to Bucharest (boarding times to be announced later)
