Here we will discover how Christianity emerged as a mass social phenomenon, what symbols and visual representations the early Christians of Anatolia used, and the unseen links between these naive rock paintings and later sophisticated Byzantine art.
  • We will continue the journey to Avanos, the center of pottery in Cappadocia, and after a lunch break, we will discover Devrent Valley, known as "Imagination Valley", where nature has created true representations of life on planet Earth from the landforms. The next stop is Pasabaglari, known as Monks Valley, because the first forms of Christian monasticism originated here.
  • We will end the day with a spectacular panoramic view from Esentepe and Uchisar Castle, a vista over the Göreme valley and the village of Göreme, made up of fairy chimneys, rock formations, and cave houses. Uchisar Castle concludes the day like a prayer of thanks to the sky: this tall rock, the highest point in the Göreme region, is shaped like a 25-story beehive, forming an underground city that stretches toward the heavens. It was used as a citadel during the Roman, Byzantine, and Seljuk eras.
  • Wine tasting in Urgup and transfer to the hotel, then the evening concludes with dinner at the hotel and free time.

The valleys, with their fabulous volcanic formations, are in the heart of Cappadocia, but far from the usual tourist attractions.
  • Our hike will continue in the cave village of Cavusin, where we will discover a rock castle and cave dwellings where people lived until the 20th century, followed by a visit to Pigeon Valley.
